Uniden Dect 6.0 Voicemail Reset

In August 2009, I purchased a Uniden Dect 1500 Series expandable cordless phone. I used this phone at a remote location with my Trixbox PBX VOIP system. Now that I have been using the phone locally, one issue presents a problem a lot...the Voice Mail Indicator doesn't reset in a timely manner (sometimes not at all).

I have researched how to fix this before, but didn't find a good answer. Today I found a great answer that worked.

Problem: Uniden Dect 6.0 Voice mail Indicator (flashing light) will not stop after voice mail has been retrieved.

Solution: Press and hold the Page button on the base for 5-10 seconds (the instructions said 5 seconds, but it seemed to take longer). The handset will start beeping and then will have a long beep. After the long beep, the handset is reset and the voice mail indicator is extinguished.

That didn't work for me. I used VMI RESET. Cleared the button and did NOT erase phone book or any other programming (popping the battery also does NOT work)

If it doesn’t, you can reset it: With the phone in standby, open the
menu and select Global Setup; select VMWI Reset, then select Yes.

Think about it. Isn't that an awful lot of work (VMWI reset) just to turn off the light that gets set every time there is a message? It's the only way I have found that works, but most phones turn off the light as soon as the message has been monitored once.

Thank you a million times! I know I shouldn't let a little red light bother me, but man, it was driving me batty. Thanks again and again.

Thank you, thank you! It was driving me crazy not knowing when I actually had messages and missing important ones because I thought the light was just doing its stupid blinking thing! Now I can reset it immediately after I check my messages! You are a lifesaver!

Thank you! THE BLINKING IS OVER

The VMWI reset worked for me. This was important to me because I don't have the base in my kitchen anymore and I wanted to be able to know when I have a new message. Thanks so much.

I don't have a VMWI anywhere in Global Set Up. This has been driving me nuts for weeks now and nothing is working to turn off the red light.

My phone is a Uniden Dect 6.0 with the digital answering system.

any other suggestions?

At first I couldn't find VMWI anywhere in Global Setup either, but realized it's missing from the handset. I checked the base and found it. The steps that works are as follows:

1. Select "Menu" button
2. Scroll down & select "Global Setup"
3. Scroll down & select "VMWI Reset" (last on the list).
4. Wait for the reset to complete and the problem will be solved.

Hope this helps!

uniden model D2997 dect 6.0 it worked for me.
Uniden has their phone number but do you think they would help no they just said refer to your manual. not sure about anyone else but shouldn't manuals be outlawed and only make manufactures post better instructions on the web?

Nothing worked for me until I pushed the triangle/square on the base. There was a message there! Hiding! Never showed up on phone or on Comcast. When the message had played the light went off!!! Go figure.

Thank you very much a million times. It drove me crazy. I looked everything including the manual. When I followed your instruction, it worked. The red light blinking was gone.

Just changed from Vonage to Comcast/Xfinity voice and I had a VM showing and all phones flashing. Tried the above method and it worked like a charm. Thanks
